The New York Times ran a story in December about burgeoning diagnoses of ADHD in the United States in recent years. That piece emphasized that diagnoses soared as makers of the drugs used to treat ADHD found success with a two-decade marketing campaign. A few days later, the Times‘ editorial board reiterated that message, saying that the tactics used by pharmaceutical companies to drive up diagnosis and sales of their drugs, “Were brazen, often misleading and sometimes deceitful.”
